Happy Baby Compo Repair

A  problem commonly found with compo dolls.....Paint peeling or "lifting" from the surface of the composition base....Appears more often where there is more detail..such as deep crevices ( nostrils or corners of the mouth) Maintaining a consistant temperature in your dolls enviornment  helps to slow down or eliminate many composition dilemmas.... Happy Dolling

Pretty Porcelain Problems

Here is another example of age and "porcelain vs. gravity". Her
body was in such grave condition that you couldn't touch it without it disintergrating. Her clothing was in the same condition, fell to dust when handled..Once repairs were done to her pretty little head ( fortunately there was no damage to her face) I was able to obtain a beautiful leather body with perfect joints and compo arms. ( KISMET!! They were destined to be together !! ) Her auburn mohair wig was cleaned and curled. Once repaired she was given a new dress, pantaloons and slip (made by Moi!)...Her shoes were the only article of clothing, unfortunately, that is original to her. Again, this is why we "do what we do"....An otherwise worthless little Dolly now has a certain amount of value ( even if it is only sentimental) and she is able to grace any collection with her antique charm....

Dydee Baby Re-Invention

Some Babys that I receive simply cannot be restored to their original beauty...and I will not destroy a doll to repair one...( Kind of defeats the purpose)

The rubber in her body wasn't the only thing that had deteriorated...So plastic surgery was needed and she received new ears sculpted from cold porcelain.....

A new baby body made of vinyl airbrushed to match her head ( Which was airbrushed,as well) Brand new outfit and she is all ready to go home with her Mom. Granted the value isn't there , but she is lovely, again, and ready to begin her new life....

Vintage Christmas Angel

This lovely little Angel came to me by way of the owner's son....Found in a box of old Christmas decorations ...He told me that he remembered how she always adorned the top of their tree, year after year, and wished to have her restored...I have never seen a little Angel like her before....Her repairs were simple and mostly cosmetic....New wings and a newly sculpted arm and she was ready to grace the top of their Christmas tree once again....Tradtion....How I love the word....

Lovely Little Shirley

Very few dolls are as recognizable as Shirley
Temple....Cherished by collectors, her value is ever
present ..even with the signs of time on her face and body. These repairs are common with composition dolls.
A little plastic surgery and a new bungee and we are as good as new....Ready to enjoy many more years with her collector family......

Wishing Everyone the Very Happiest of New Years..May all your wishes come true..

Compo Baby Blues

This small child ,actually, belongs to the H.D. owner. Given to her as a small child by her father....After the doll was pieced together ..the missing areas were sculpted, layer by layer, using the same auto body filler as on the porcelain sibling. She received several layers of a poly coat before she was airbrushed to the owners specifications....I love it when a doll ( as well as a plan ) comes together !!!!

Humpty Dumpty had a Great fall

This young lady came to me as a result of an overly inquisitive kitty....After locating her many fractured pieces and shards came the task of placing them together like a 3-D jigsaw puzzle....Once glued,  the fractures were reinforced with Bondo ( an auto body filler) and sanded..and sanded..and sanded...:) Her original coloring was carefully matched and airbrushed...A matte sealer was used to finish the look and preserve the work.....VERY happy to go home with her Mom ( has a hit out on the cat)
